Mense of the Magaliesberg
In our regular series, we feature the individuals who make things happen in the region.
Beresford Jobling was murdered the first weekend in September on his farm in Skeerpoort. His car had been stolen and his body thrown in the river, probably on a Saturday, and only discovered late Sunday night.
Vincent Carruthers writes in his tribute, “Beres was a strong supporter of the Biosphere and, as chairman of the Hartbeespoort Environment and Heritage Association, he registered the HEHA as one of the very first members of the Magaliesberg Biosphere in 2008. He was also chairman of the Decorative Arts Society and active in many other spheres. The loss of such an intelligent and active person is an appalling tragedy.”
The regional Kormorant newspaper carried many tributes to Beresford:
“Impeccable manners, highly intelligent, well-spoken, artistic, caring, sincere, helpful, lover of nature, historian of note, great sense of humour, special friend - all these attributes describe Beresford Jobling - he was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. Time spent in his company was always memorable and heart-warming.” - Noel and Jenny Bergh
- Arnaud Malan, HOEV Ondervoorsitter
